Budget accommodation and other options

Budget accommodation in Stockholm

IRSCL Congress 2019 takes place during the summer peak season and the congress venue, Norra Latin – Stockholm City Conference Centre, is located right in the heart of downtown Stockholm. For this reason, prices for accommodation near the congress venue can be quite expensive, around 1100-1600 SEK (Swedish krona) per night.

There are a handful of mid- to low-budget hostels in the city center with day rates for ca 600-1000 SEK (if booked early). Most of them are unfortunately not available for large congress pre-bookings. In addition, Stockholm offers a wide variety of housing options at even lower rates (200-600 SEK/night) depending on preferred convenience, eg. a longer commute to the congress venue, extra small rooms, shared bathroom, shared room with dorm beds. These mid- to low-budget hostels are usually most affordable to book via their own respective web booking service or via popular hotel aggregator sites such as Booking.com and Hotels.com.

For those looking for advice on where to look for budget accommodation other than the options listed under “Pre-booked rooms” and “Discounts”, please contact simon.springare@barnboksinstitutet.se. We will do our best to help you find alternatives according to your needs. If you wish to share one of the pre-booked twin bed room options (see “Pre-booked rooms”) with a roommate, we can try to help you get in touch with other congress participants who are also looking for a roommate.
